Tarun Mansukhani's comedy Housefull 5 has defied expectations at the box office, maintaining strong numbers despite mixed reviews and criticism of its content. The film raked in ₹8 crore net in India on its sixth day, bringing its total collection to an impressive ₹119 crore. Housefull 5 is now the third-highest-grossing Hindi film of the year domestically and is on track to cross the ₹200 crore mark globally.
Housefull 5 Surpasses Sikandar
With a net collection of ₹119 crore in just six days, Housefull 5 has surpassed Salman Khan's Sikandar to become the third-highest-grossing Hindi film in India this year. The film now trails behind Ajay Devgn's Raid 2, which has earned ₹174 crore, and Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava, which holds the top spot with ₹601 crore.
Total Collection of Housefull 5
Housefull 5 has also performed well overseas, grossing over $5 million and nearing the ₹200 crore mark worldwide. The film is set to become the fourth Hindi movie to achieve this milestone by the end of the week, with its current estimated global collection standing at around ₹185 crore. Housefull 5 has become Akshay Kumar's highest-grossing film of the year, surpassing Sky Force and Kesari Chapter 2.
Verdict: Hit or Flop?
As Housefull 5 approaches the ₹200 crore mark, many are hailing it as a superhit. However, the film's success is more complex due to its large ensemble cast and high production costs. With a reported budget of ₹240 crore, Housefull 5 needs to exceed this figure in net collections or reach ₹300 crore globally to be considered a clean hit. While the producers have already secured profits from various rights, distributors are hoping for a successful run at the box office. Despite the challenges, Housefull 5 is poised to at least break even and potentially become a hit if its momentum continues.
