Tragic Incident Claims Lives of Two Women in Eryri National Park

North Wales Police said its "thoughts and sympathies" are with the women's families and appealed for information from anyone who may have been walking in the area.

Authorities have confirmed that two women have tragically passed away following an incident in Eryri National Park, also known as Snowdonia, in Wales.

The North Wales Police responded to a call at 9:31pm on Wednesday night reporting that a female had been pulled from the water in Nant Gwynant. Another female was also reported to be in the water at the pools on the Watkin Path.

Despite efforts from emergency responders including North Wales Police, Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team, air ambulance, and Coastguard helicopter, both women were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

North Wales Police's Detective Chief Inspector Andy Gibson expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and announced that an investigation into the incident has been initiated. Authorities are appealing for information from anyone who may have been in the Watkin Path area between 6pm and 9pm on Wednesday night.

The coroner has been notified as the investigation continues.
