Nintendo's new handheld console has reached the highest global sales of any Nintendo device in the same timeframe.

Nintendo recently announced that its latest handheld console, the Switch 2, has achieved a remarkable milestone by selling over 3.5 million units globally within just four days of its release. This impressive feat makes it the fastest-selling Nintendo device to date, surpassing the original Switch which sold 2.74 million units in its first month.

Priced at $450 for the standard American version, the Nintendo Switch 2 has not been impacted by the latest tariffs. It boasts a larger screen, updated Joy-Con controllers, enhanced processors, and is compatible with original Switch games. The console currently offers revamped versions of popular titles like Breath of the Wild and the new exclusive game Mario Kart World.

When contacted by CNET, a spokesperson from Nintendo of America encouraged interested buyers to visit their preferred retailer to purchase the Nintendo Switch 2 along with a selection of over 20 games available from Nintendo and their partners. The company is committed to restocking retail partners regularly to meet the high demand for the product.

Despite the impressive initial sales figures, the Switch 2 still has a way to go to match the success of the original Switch, which has sold more than 150 million units since its launch in 2017.
