On Thursday night, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) announced that the low-pressure area (LPA 6b) off Batanes province has intensified into a tropical depression, now named Auring.
As of 10 p.m. on June 12, Auring was located 270 kilometers north of Itbayat town, Batanes, with wind speeds of 45 km per hour and gustiness of 55 kph. The tropical depression is moving north-northwest at 15 kph.
Pagasa has started issuing tropical cyclone bulletins as a result of this development, beginning at 11 p.m. on Thursday.
