The 18-year-old swimmer made it three world records in less than a week when she broke her own 400-metre individual medley mark on Wednesday

Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh, at 18 years old, continues to impress by setting her third world record in less than a week. She achieved this feat by breaking her own 400-metre individual medley mark during the Canadian Swimming Trials in Victoria. McIntosh finished the race in 4 minutes 23.65 seconds, surpassing her previous world record of 4:24.38 set at the Olympic trials in Toronto. This marks the third world record she has set during the Canadian trials, with new records in the 200m individual medley and the 400m freestyle as well.

Despite her incredible accomplishments, McIntosh remains humble and focused on her performance. She mentioned that she prefers not to dwell on her achievements during the meet, choosing instead to celebrate briefly before shifting her attention to the next race. McIntosh expressed her belief that she can swim even faster, emphasizing the thrill of chasing records that she has not yet broken.

In addition to her world records, McIntosh also broke her own Canadian records in the 800m freestyle and the 200m butterfly earlier in the week. As a two-time Olympian, she made history by winning three gold medals and one silver at the Paris Olympics last summer, becoming the first Canadian to achieve this feat at a single Games.

During the same event, swimmer Ethan Ekk set a new record in the 200m men's backstroke, finishing in 1:56.54. He narrowly missed the previous record set by Blake Tierney at the Olympic trials. Para-swimmers Nicholas Bennett and Reid Maxwell also made their mark by breaking Canadian records in their respective events.

With McIntosh's exceptional talent and determination, the swimming world eagerly anticipates her future performances and potential record-breaking swims.
