Arsenal is gearing up to submit a second bid for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres as reports suggest that Manchester United is poised to respond.
The Gunners have already secured a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder and are now focusing on acquiring a new center-forward and winger, with negotiations for Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko in progress. However, talks with the Bundesliga club have hit a roadblock due to the player's frustration over the asking price.
Despite Sporting CP's president's reluctance to sell Gyokeres for €70m, Arsenal is turning their attention towards the striker, according to reports from Portugal. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided updates on the situation, indicating that Gyokeres remains an option for Arsenal as they continue to work on the Sesko deal.
Manchester United has also expressed interest in Gyokeres, with recent contacts made with the player's camp to explore the possibility of a deal if Arsenal's negotiations fall through. Financial considerations may play a role in United's pursuit, especially after missing out on Champions League football.
Reports suggest that Arsenal is preparing a second offer for Gyokeres, aiming to exceed €70m in total deal value. The initial bid was below €60m but could reach close to €65m with bonuses included. On the other hand, Manchester United is reportedly ready to make an official offer of €60m plus an additional €10m for objectives.
