Travelers on the M62 are facing significant delays as authorities work to clear the aftermath of a lorry collision with railings on a bridge. The incident occurred at junction 9 near Newton Road (Winwick) at 4:30 am on Friday, June 13.

Initially, both directions of the motorway were closed, but the eastbound lanes reopened at 3:30 pm. However, the westbound carriageway remains shut as crews conduct emergency resurfacing due to a substantial diesel spill from the lorry.

Reports from Inrix's traffic management system indicate congestion between Junctions 9 and 10 as weekend commuters travel home. Traffic is being redirected through exit and entry slip roads.
