Artificial intelligence has become an essential component of modern smartphones, with each brand offering unique AI capabilities. Apple recently unveiled new AI features at its Worldwide Developers Conference, joining the ranks of competitors in this space.
Screen phone calls
Apple's Call Screening feature uses AI technology to screen incoming calls from unknown numbers. It prompts the caller to provide their name and reason for calling before the recipient is notified, similar to Google's Call Screen feature on Pixel smartphones.
Search for what you see
Google's Circle to Search feature allows users to search for similar images online by selecting an image on their phone screen. Apple will introduce a similar feature in its upcoming software update, enabling users to search for images with Google or in apps directly from screenshots.
Stay on hold
Apple's Hold Assist feature uses AI to detect on-hold music, mute it, and notify users when a human answers the call. This feature is comparable to Google's Hold For Me feature on Pixel smartphones.
Translate foreign languages
AI technology is breaking down language barriers with features like Apple's Live Translation, which translates spoken and written language in real time across various apps. Samsung and Google also offer similar translation features in their smartphones and apps.
Guided workouts
Apple's Workout Buddy feature uses AI to provide personalized workout guidance and motivation based on input from fitness trainers. This feature, which requires an Apple Watch and compatible iPhone, offers real-time feedback during workouts to enhance the exercise experience.
