Philippines' national women's volleyball team, Alas Pilipinas, faced a tough challenge against Vietnam in the final match of the AVC Women's Nations Cup. Despite their best efforts, they fell short with a score of 15-25, 17-25, 14-25, settling for a silver medal at the Dong Anh Arena.
Leading the charge for the Philippines was Alyssa Solomon, who contributed eight points. This achievement marks the country's highest finish in an AVC tournament. Shaina Nitura also put up a good fight with six points, especially in the second set where Alas Pilipinas briefly took the lead before succumbing to the dominant Vietnamese team.
Thi Thanh Thuy Tran, also known as 'T4', showcased her skills by scoring 17 points, including a crucial push that sealed the victory for Vietnam. Meanwhile, Thi Bich Tuyen Nguyen was equally impressive with 20 points, demonstrating her prowess in attacks, blocks, and aces.
Despite their efforts, Alas Pilipinas struggled in both the attacking and service departments, with Vietnam outscoring them 27-49 in attacks and 0-7 in service points.
