The two shooting locations were approximately 8 miles apart in Champlin and Brooklyn Park, north of Minneapolis. Both Hoffman and Hortman are members of the Democratic party, with Hortman being the former Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives.

The FBI is assisting in the manhunt, as confirmed by sources. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has also activated the State Emergency Operations Center in response to the incidents.
