A recent arrest in the UK is connected to two fatal shootings that occurred in Spain. Merseyside Police announced that a 44-year-old man was taken into custody in the Liverpool area and appeared in court. This arrest was made on behalf of Spanish authorities, who may seek extradition for the suspect to return to Spain. The individual, a resident of Merseyside, has been remanded in custody for a future court appearance.
The arrest is related to a tragic incident on 31st May, where two Scottish men, Eddie Lyons Jnr and Ross Monaghan, were fatally shot by a hooded gunman outside an Irish pub in Fuengirola. The assailant arrived in a car, exited wearing a mask, and shot the victims before fleeing the scene in the vehicle. Both men lost their lives in the attack.
Earlier in the month, Police Scotland stated that there was no evidence linking this double shooting to ongoing criminal activities in Scotland under investigation as part of Operation Portaledge. This operation is looking into a suspected gang conflict involving numerous shootings, arson attacks, and assaults in Glasgow and Edinburgh since March. Over 40 individuals have been apprehended in connection with these incidents.
