Minnesota Police and the FBI are conducting an extensive search for a gunman who posed as a police officer and fatally shot a senior Democratic state assemblywoman and her husband in Minnesota. Governor Tim Walz described the incident as a 'politically motivated assassination.'

The suspect, identified as 57-year-old Vance Luther Boelter, also wounded a second lawmaker and his spouse before fleeing the scene. The suspect abandoned a vehicle resembling a police SUV, which contained a 'manifesto' and a list of other politicians and institutions as potential targets.

Boelter is considered armed and dangerous and is believed to still be in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the motive behind the attack.

According to online postings and public records, the suspect had connections to evangelical ministries and claimed to be a security expert with experience in various regions. He was also a former employee of food service companies and served on the advisory Governor's Workforce Development Board.

Officials discovered a list of about 70 names in the suspect's abandoned vehicle, including abortion providers and lawmakers from Minnesota and other states. The victims of the shooting were among those listed.

Minnesota Governor Walz condemned the incident as an act of 'targeted political violence' and emphasized the importance of peaceful discourse in a democracy. The shootings have sparked reactions of shock and horror from politicians across party lines.

The suspect was seen wearing a rubber mask in a police-like uniform. The FBI has offered a reward for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
