Following DNA testing, it has been confirmed that former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was among the victims of the tragic Air India Flight AI171 crash on June 12 in Ahmedabad. The crash, which claimed 241 lives, occurred shortly after takeoff, with Rupani on board the Boeing 787 Dreamliner en route to London to visit his daughter.

Forensic teams are working tirelessly to identify victims through DNA sampling, a challenging process given the crash's intensity. Rupani's final rites will take place in his hometown of Rajkot, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressing deep sorrow over the loss.

Air India and Tata Group have announced compensation for the victims' families, with preparations for Rupani's funeral currently underway in Rajkot. Medical authorities have identified 32 DNAs and handed over 14 bodies to their respective families, as the nation mourns this tragic event.
