Following the devastating helicopter crash near Kedarnath that claimed the lives of all seven people on board, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has issued strict instructions regarding helicopter operations. He has directed the Chief Secretary to form a committee of technical experts to prepare a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that includes thorough checks of the helicopter's technical condition and accurate weather information before flights, ensuring safety and adherence to prescribed standards.

Dhami emphasized the crucial role of helicopter services in the state for pilgrimage, disaster management, and emergency services, stressing the need for prioritizing safety measures.

The tragic incident occurred as the helicopter was en route from Kedarnath Dham to Guptkashi and crashed at 5:20 am. The passengers on board included individuals from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. Dhami expressed his condolences and prayed for the well-being of all those affected.

Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCDA) confirmed that NDRF and SDRF teams have been deployed to the crash site for rescue operations. Inspector General Rajiv Swaroop described the crash site as a remote area, highlighting the challenges faced during the rescue mission. Initially reported as a missing helicopter, ADG Law and Order Dr. V Murugeshan later confirmed that the helicopter had indeed crashed in Gaurikund.
