The suspect involved in the shooting of two Democratic lawmakers and their spouses in Minnesota has been apprehended after a two-day manhunt. Vance Boelter, 57, was taken into custody by US police following the attack that resulted in the death of one lawmaker and injuries to another.

Law enforcement officials in the Midwestern state confirmed the arrest of Boelter on Sunday, praising the collaborative efforts of multiple agencies and the community for aiding in his capture. The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office described Boelter as 'the face of evil' and expressed relief that justice was one step closer.

Boelter, who is accused of carrying out a politically motivated attack, faces charges of two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder. The criminal complaint against him was unsealed on Sunday night.

Lieutenant Colonel Jeremy Geiger of the Minnesota State Patrol reported that Boelter surrendered to authorities peacefully, without any use of force. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz commended law enforcement officers for their swift action in apprehending the suspect.
