With 20 years of deep-rooted resentment towards her mum, fractured family relationships, and siblings she has never met, Zoe will be in for one hell of a ride when she returns

Michelle Ryan is reprising her role as Zoe Slater in EastEnders, with her epic return in the Monday 16 June episode paving the way for more drama to come later this year.

Zoe Slater, despite not being seen on screen for two decades, remains a significant character in the show's history, having been part of iconic storylines such as the classic 'You ain't my mother' plotline.

In 2001, it was revealed that Zoe Slater, the youngest of the Slater sisters, was actually the daughter of Kat Slater, sparking a cycle of resentment between the two that has lasted for 24 years.

Throughout her time in Albert Square, Zoe had numerous failed relationships, but the most impactful was with Dennis Rickman, leading to her involvement in the murder of Den Watts alongside Chrissie Watts and Sam Mitchell.

After reconciling with Kat in 2005 and admitting the truth about Den Watts' murder, Zoe left Walford. However, her relationship with Kat deteriorated during her time away, leaving them estranged.

With deep-seated resentment towards her mother, fractured family ties, and unknown siblings, Zoe's return to Walford promises to be a tumultuous journey.

EastEnders Executive Producer Ben Wadey expressed his excitement about Michelle Ryan reprising the role, highlighting Zoe's enduring popularity and teasing exciting storylines ahead.

Michelle Ryan shared her feelings about returning to Walford, describing it as coming home and hinting at the challenges Zoe will face in the upcoming episodes.
