European countries such as Germany, France, and the United Kingdom are expressing interest in restarting nuclear discussions with Iran, according to German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul. These nations, collectively known as the 'E3,' have engaged in multiple meetings with Iranian representatives regarding Iran's nuclear program. The United States has also participated in parallel talks.

Iran maintains that its nuclear activities are geared towards civilian purposes. However, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported that Iran is enriching uranium well beyond the levels necessary for civilian use.

On June 12, the IAEA passed a resolution denouncing Iran's failure to comply with its nuclear commitments under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), potentially leading to sanctions against Iran.

During a visit to the Middle East, Wadephul emphasized the importance of Iran committing to the peaceful use of nuclear technology to avoid further military conflicts.

Following Israel's recent attack on Iran, which targeted nuclear facilities, Tehran opted to postpone further discussions.
