Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, head of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), expressed his support for the five-minute response time requirement for police assistance mandated by the national headquarters.

During a media interview at the Bacolod City Police Office on Monday, June 16, Ibay emphasized that the NIR personnel are committed to meeting the directive issued by PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III.

Ibay highlighted the importance of having police officers stationed outside police stations to enhance their visibility in the community.

Torre recently conducted a command conference with Ibay and other PRO-NIR officers during his visit to the region last week.

While Torre did not give specific instructions to the NIR police force, he reiterated the need for immediate police response, according to Ibay, who also requested additional personnel for NIR to ensure compliance.

The Bacolod City Police Office and the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office affirmed their commitment to adhering to the directive, stating that they have long been striving for this as part of their crime prevention strategies.
