Dunnes Stores has urgently recalled a batch of a popular €4.99 item due to mislabeling that means some packs contain undeclared almonds, posing a serious allergy risk to some customers.

Dunnes Stores has issued an urgent recall for a batch of one of its popular bakery items due to a packaging mix-up that could pose a serious health risk to some customers.

The affected product is the Dunnes Stores Luxury Apple Tart, priced at €4.99, with the batch code 242 and best before date of June 16, 2025.

Although labeled as apple tart, the affected packs actually contain Luxury Pear and Almond Pie, which poses a risk to consumers with nut allergies or intolerances.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has confirmed the recall and warned those allergic to almonds not to consume the product.

If you have purchased the affected item, it is advised to stop eating it immediately and return it to any Dunnes Stores location for a full refund, no receipt required.

Dunnes Stores has apologized for the incident and urged customers not to consume the affected pie. For any concerns, shoppers can contact Dunnes Stores customer services.

Almond allergy symptoms can range from mild to severe, including skin reactions, digestive issues, and breathing difficulties. In extreme cases, anaphylaxis, a life-threatening reaction, may occur.

Common symptoms to watch out for include hives, itching, swelling, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and difficulty breathing.
