Following a tragic incident in Toronto, the Ontario Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is conducting an investigation into a man's death after falling from a condo balcony.

On Tuesday, Toronto Police Service (TPS) officers responded to a crisis situation at a condominium located at Church Street and The Esplanade around 2 a.m. The officers breached the door and found a 46-year-old man inside. They tried to negotiate with him, but shortly after, the man fell from the balcony to the ground below.

He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Three officers sustained minor injuries during the incident, as reported by CityNews.

The SIU has taken over the investigation and declined to provide further details. Church Street was temporarily closed for the investigation but has since reopened to the public.

Currently, one investigator and two forensic experts are working on the case. The SIU is an independent agency that investigates incidents involving deaths, serious injuries, sexual assault allegations, and firearm discharge at individuals.
