Renowned Indian-origin author and longtime Hillary Clinton aide, Huma Abedin, recently tied the knot with investor Alex Soros, one of billionaire George Soros's children, at their New York home. Abedin shared that they had initially planned to elope but ended up having a wedding ceremony after some encouragement.

Speaking to Vogue, Abedin recounted a memorable moment from the wedding day when they had to take a shuttle bus to the event due to heavy rain the night before and on the day of the ceremony. She mentioned how they had to protect her dress from getting wet and how the situation turned comical as they all crammed into the shuttle.

Anna Wintour, the iconic fashion figure and Vogue editor-in-chief, even held Abedin's veil on a hanger and urged the driver to leave before the rain started. Abedin expressed that this unexpected turn of events helped ease her nerves and added a touch of humor to the day.

Originally planning to elope, Abedin and Soros changed their minds after an engagement party hosted by Hillary Clinton and Anna Wintour. The couple was encouraged by the influential figures to have a traditional wedding ceremony.

With Abedin's Indian and Pakistani heritage, she began working for Hillary Clinton at a young age and has maintained a close relationship with the Clintons. Their wedding guest list included prominent figures like Bill and Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, Doug Emhoff, and Nancy Pelosi.

Alex Soros and Huma Abedin met at a friend's gathering in 2023 and got engaged in June 2024 after Soros proposed at their Manhattan apartment. The couple had two ceremonies to honor their union, incorporating elements from Abedin's Muslim faith and Soros's Jewish background.

Instead of gifts, Abedin and Soros encouraged their guests to support Vow for Girls, an organization dedicated to empowering young girls to make their own choices and shape their futures.
