Acknowledging the US president’s aversion to long meetings, diplomats say next week’s gathering at the Hague will be only one session of two and a half hours

The upcoming NATO summit is expected to be concise and focused, catering to President Trump's limited attention span and preference for shorter meetings to avoid any potential outbursts or gaffes.

Set to take place in the Hague next Tuesday, the alliance aims to establish new defense spending targets for member countries. The summit's agenda will be streamlined to accommodate Trump's impatience with lengthy discussions and his unpredictable nature.

Traditionally, NATO summits consist of three meetings, each lasting two and a half hours, centered around geopolitics and strategic planning. However, the upcoming gathering will be condensed into a single session of the same duration.

The summit's official statement, outlining NATO spending goals, will be concise, consisting of only five paragraphs on a single sheet of A4 paper. In contrast, last year's summit in Washington produced a 44-paragraph declaration totaling 5,400 words.
