Al Jazeera's Sanad unit has meticulously tracked and mapped out significant Iranian strikes on Israel from Saturday to Monday using open-source intelligence and visual evidence.
The ongoing conflict has led to sirens blaring in cities across Israel as Iranian missiles continue to hit the country in retaliation for Israeli strikes on Iran's nuclear and military facilities since Friday.
An Iranian missile caused a fire in central Israel, engulfing multiple cars. The Meron airbase in northern Israel was reportedly one of the targets, as per Iran's Fars News Agency.
Israeli attacks on Iran have resulted in the deaths of at least 240 people since Friday, while Iranian strikes have claimed the lives of at least 24 individuals in Israel.
Military Censorship During Conflict
Israeli media have covered various strikes across the country with differing levels of damage and casualties. However, due to wartime military censorship, reports on attacks involving sensitive or strategic locations are often limited or withheld from the public.
Utilizing open-source intelligence, including publicly shared images and videos on social media, Israeli media outlets, and visual confirmation of destroyed sites in Israeli cities, Al Jazeera's fact-checking unit, Sanad, has outlined some of the most notable Iranian attacks on Israel from Saturday to Monday.
Highlighted Targeted Areas
On Saturday, missiles landed just 300 meters from the Israeli Ministry of Defence headquarters in Tel Aviv, a critical government complex housing key military and intelligence offices.
Another strike hit the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, south of Tel Aviv, a prominent research center known to collaborate with the Israeli military.
Impact on Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area
Several locations in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area have been hit, including Ramat Gan, where towers and residential buildings were struck, leading to evacuations and significant damage.
Neighboring cities like Petah Tikva and Bnei Brak also faced missile strikes causing damage to both residential and commercial areas.
In Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv, nine deaths and around 200 injuries were reported, with Rishon LeZion experiencing destruction in multiple homes.
Haifa Refinery and Other Strikes
In northern Israel, Iranian missiles targeted Haifa's Bazan petrochemical complex, the country's largest oil refinery, resulting in a shutdown of operations. Haifa also faced a second missile strike hitting residential buildings in the Neve Sha'anan neighborhood.
In Tamra, a predominantly Palestinian town in northern Israel, an Iranian missile tragically killed four women from the same family, highlighting the vulnerability of towns lacking proper bomb shelters.
