Ylaysha Musngi Gosiaco, who graduated with honors in psychology, carried a photo of her grandmother, 1st Lt. Dr. Mercedes Cuello Lazaro Musngi, a Filipina guerrilla combat medic during the war. In a touching gesture, she saluted her grandmother on stage, wearing a graduation sash inspired by the Philippine flag.

She aims to promote trauma-informed mental health education and intergenerational healing, blending historical awareness with mental health strategies.
