Sorry, Vision Pro, but I wore the new Xreal One Pro glasses to cover Apple's show live this year. And yeah, they passed the test.

On a sunny day in Cupertino, California, I attended Apple's WWDC keynote wearing the Xreal One Pro glasses. These smart display-enabled sunglasses allowed me to cover the event live with ease.

Throughout the 2-hour event, the Xreal One Pros impressed me by projecting my laptop monitor clearly, reducing glare, and enabling me to watch the stage presentation simultaneously. The glasses even featured an auto transparency mode that dimmed the world when I focused on my virtual screen and turned transparent again when I looked at the stage.

While truly functional everyday AR glasses are not yet available, products like the Xreal One Pro are bringing us closer to that reality.

A Floating Display on Demand

Xreal's glasses connect via USB-C and essentially function as a wearable monitor with speakers in the form of glasses. They can mirror your screen or act as a second monitor when plugged into a compatible device with USB-C video out.

Unlike traditional glasses, Xreal's glasses have three dimmable lens settings that provide instant sunglasses and enhance display visibility in bright sunlight. The transparency mode made it easier for me to switch between looking at the stage and my laptop screen.

One Pro vs. One: Subtle Differences

The Xreal One Pro glasses offer slight improvements over the non-Pro version, such as better audio quality and a wider display area. Although the Pro version comes at a higher price, the enhanced performance and display quality may justify the cost.

Optional Camera Isn't Necessary

The Xreal Eye camera, sold separately, can capture photos and videos on the glasses. While the camera functionality is limited, it hints at future possibilities for augmented reality applications with Xreal glasses.

When They're Good, They're Great

The Xreal One Pro glasses excel in movie watching and work tasks, thanks to their microOLED displays. Despite the 1080p resolution limit, these glasses offer a compelling viewing experience and hint at the future of smart eyewear.

As smart glasses continue to evolve rapidly, products like the Xreal One Pro are paving the way for a new era of augmented reality. The future of smart glasses is promising, and my experience with the Xreal One Pros at WWDC 2025 demonstrates the ongoing innovation in this space.
