The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is ready to offer social protection and assistance to overseas Filipinos (OFs) and their children in case of mandatory repatriation due to the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.

Director Edwin Morata of the DSWD’s Protective Services Bureau-Crisis Intervention Unit (PSB-CIU) mentioned that the agency has teams of social workers and prepared interventions for OFs returning to Manila.

They are prepared to provide medical, food, transportation, legal, and livelihood assistance, as well as mental health and psychosocial support to OFs and their families.

Additionally, the DSWD is collaborating with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) in conducting "Serbisyo Caravan" initiatives to assist overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in accessing government services.

The Serbisyo Caravan is a one-stop event that delivers essential government services directly to OFWs and their families, addressing the challenges they face in accessing these services due to time constraints and geographical distance.

During a recent event in Hong Kong, the DSWD provided information and counseling to OFWs, showcasing the various programs and services available to them and their families in the Philippines.
