Rutgers star Ace Bailey is putting the league on notice with a power play as we near the NBA Draft.

Rutgers standout Ace Bailey is making waves in the basketball world with a bold move as the 2025 NBA Draft approaches. The former Rutgers forward surprised many by abruptly canceling his scheduled workout with the Philadelphia 76ers, who hold the third overall pick in the draft, as reported by ESPN's Draft Express.

Bailey stands out as the only U.S.-based prospect who has declined meetings with any NBA teams, including those within his projected draft range. Despite this unconventional decision, he is anticipated to be a top pick, possibly even within the top three selections.

While most experts project Bailey to be chosen third overall, the Sixers have not ruled out selecting him at that spot, according to Draft Express. The Wizards, Pelicans, and Nets are also reportedly eyeing Bailey and may be looking to move up in the draft to secure him. Additionally, the Utah Jazz, led by Danny Ainge, hold the fifth pick and could be in contention for Bailey.

On the other hand, the Hornets, who pick fourth, have faced challenges in attracting prospects due to reported disinterest in playing alongside LaMelo Ball. Bailey's camp has indicated that they view him as a top-tier player and are seeking a clear path to stardom, potentially influencing his decision-making process.

Speculation has arisen regarding Bailey's motives, with some suggesting that he may have already received assurances from a team that he prefers to play for in the future. ABC's Jason Dumas even reported that Bailey was looking for a promise from the Sixers before their scheduled meeting.

Despite the intrigue surrounding Bailey's actions, his teammate Ron Harper is widely projected to be the second overall pick, while Duke Cooper Flagg is expected to go first. Bailey, who showcased his skills at the NBA Draft Combine and had an impressive season at Rutgers, could be a game-changer for whichever team ultimately selects him.
