In a heartfelt social media post, the band announced the devastating news, expressing their gratitude for the support from fans. They confirmed that James had given his blessing for the tour to continue without him.
The band and James' family extended their thanks to the medical team caring for him during his illness.
James had been a part of Deacon Blue since the 1980s, contributing to hits like Dignity, Chocolate Girl, and Real Gone Kid. The band has seen lineup changes over the years but has continued making music together since regrouping in 1999 after a break in 1994.
