The Faridabad Police recently arrested Bhoop Singh, the father-in-law of Tannu Rajput, for confessing to killing her and burying her body in front of his house two months ago. Singh, a resident of Roshan Nagar, admitted to strangling Tannu Rajput and disposing of her body in a 10-foot soak pit dug for the purpose in front of his house.

While the motive behind the murder is still unknown, Singh claimed that he killed his daughter-in-law because she caused a rift in the household. The incident took place on the night of April 21, when Tannu Rajput's husband was away at work, leaving only Singh, his daughter, and Tannu in the house.

Details of the Murder

According to police reports, Singh strangled Tannu with her dupatta in her room while she was asleep. He then buried her body in a pit in front of the house and covered it with soil. The following morning, Singh had the pit cemented to conceal the crime.

Authorities are investigating the involvement of other family members in the incident. While the motive is suspected to be dowry-related, further inquiries are ongoing.

Background of the Case

Tannu Rajput, a 25-year-old woman who got married in 2023, was reported missing in April. Her body was discovered buried in a soak pit outside her marital home in Roshan Nagar, Faridabad, after an extensive search by the police.

Her family had expressed doubts about her husband's claim that she had eloped, leading to a thorough investigation that uncovered the truth behind her disappearance.

Chilling Details of the Murder

The investigation revealed a disturbing level of planning in concealing Tannu's body. Her in-laws fabricated a story about digging a soak pit to prevent waterlogging, while they were actually preparing her grave.

After burying her body in the pit under the cover of darkness, they swiftly concealed it using an earthmover to avoid suspicion. Neighbours were unaware of the crime until authorities intervened.

An autopsy conducted at Badshah Khan Civil Hospital confirmed the identity of the remains, bringing closure to Tannu Rajput's family after weeks of uncertainty.
