Israel has announced the successful elimination of Saeed Izadi, the military coordinator between Iran and Hamas. Izadi, who had been in charge of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps's ties with Palestinian armed groups, was reportedly instrumental in arming and financing Hamas. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) hailed this operation as a significant milestone in the ongoing conflict.

According to IDF chief Eyal Zamir, Izadi played a crucial role in orchestrating the attack on southern Israel by Hamas on 7 October 2023, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people and the capture of many hostages in Gaza. The IDF carried out a strike on an apartment in Qom, south of Tehran, where Izadi was located.

In addition to Izadi, Israel also claimed to have eliminated another key figure, Behnam Shahriyari, a Quds Force commander responsible for transporting missiles and rockets to Iran's proxy groups, including Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. These targeted assassinations are seen as a severe blow to the IRGC.

As the conflict between Israel and Iran escalates, both countries have engaged in new attacks. Iran accused Israel of targeting a nuclear facility near Isfahan, while Israel claimed to have struck military infrastructure in south-west Iran. The situation remains tense, with Iran warning against US intervention and demanding a halt to Israeli strikes before resuming nuclear talks.

Since the conflict began on 13 June, Iran has reported at least 430 casualties, including military commanders, while a human rights group estimates the death toll to be higher. In Israel, 25 people have lost their lives, including one due to a heart attack.
