Residents of New South Wales can look forward to a taste of spring-like warmth following some of the coldest mornings in decades, thanks to a burst of warm air moving across the continent. The Bureau of Meteorology predicts a high of 22 degrees on Monday, with temperatures expected to be 5 degrees above average before cooler weather returns on Tuesday.
On the weekend's winter solstice, parts of NSW experienced temperatures colder than Antarctica. Canberra saw a pre-dawn temperature of -7.6 degrees, the coldest June morning in 39 years. Forbes had a low of -5.5 degrees, the coldest in 27 years, while Cowra experienced its coldest morning in a decade at -3.1 degrees.
