Dale Earnhardt Jr. achieved victory in his first NASCAR national series race as a crew chief in the Xfinity Series at Pocono Raceway on Saturday.

Long Pond, Pa. - Dale Earnhardt Jr. has quickly become a fan favorite as a crew chief, maintaining an undefeated record. He took on the role unexpectedly and guided 18-year-old Connor Zilisch in the No. 88 Chevrolet to victory at the Pocono Raceway during the Xfinity Series race.

Earnhardt expressed his satisfaction with being able to contribute to decision-making and help Zilisch understand the race plan. This win marked a significant moment for Earnhardt, who is a 15-time winner of NASCAR's most popular driver award.

Stepping in as a crew chief, Earnhardt temporarily left his position as a team owner at JR Motorsports due to his regular crew chief's suspension. He also fulfilled his broadcasting duties for the NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono on Sunday.

Accompanied by his wife and two daughters, Earnhardt celebrated the victory walk to the victory lane. He emphasized the importance of his daughters experiencing NASCAR and the opportunities it offers.

This win adds to Earnhardt's successful season, following JR Motorsports and reigning Xfinity Series champion Justin Allgaier's qualification for the Daytona 500 and their Cup Series debut. Earnhardt, a NASCAR Hall of Famer, has an impressive track record with two Daytona 500 wins and 26 overall victories.

Despite his side gig as a crew chief, Earnhardt had a smooth race with Zilisch at the helm. Zilisch, who will turn 19 in July, secured his second Xfinity victory of the season and third of his career. He made his Xfinity debut last year at Watkins Glen International.

During the race, Earnhardt actively participated by handling tires during pit stops. Zilisch's victory was sealed with a late pass on Jesse Love, who finished second in the race.

Reflecting on his crew chief debut, Earnhardt hinted that it might be a one-time experience for him.
