Renowned broadcaster Selina Scott recently revealed that she was brutally attacked and robbed by a gang in broad daylight in London. The former ITV News at Ten anchor, aged 74, bravely fought back during the terrifying ordeal but was left feeling 'shattered and traumatised'.

Scott recounted the incident, stating that she was leaving a Waterstones store in Piccadilly, Central London, when she was struck on the back of her right knee, initially thinking she had been stabbed. A group of around seven or eight men and women, dressed in expensive sportswear and appearing to be of East Asian origin, surrounded her and attempted to grab her designer backpack. Despite her efforts to resist, they managed to steal her purse containing important items like her driving license, cards, and cash.

The TV icon, known for her work since the 1980s and famous interviews with personalities like Donald Trump, criticized the lack of police presence in the area. She expressed disappointment at not seeing any officers around during the incident, emphasizing that the attack seemed well-coordinated and practiced. Scott highlighted the need for increased security measures to prevent such crimes from occurring.

Reflecting on the traumatic experience, Scott shared her feelings of shock and frustration, emphasizing the brazenness of the attackers and the sense of impunity they seemed to possess. She also expressed concern for the safety of others, stating that if she could be targeted in such a public place, anyone could fall victim to similar crimes.

Despite sustaining bruising to her leg, Scott expressed relief that a knife wasn't used during the attack. The Metropolitan Police responded to the incident, acknowledging the victim's concerns and assuring that patrols are conducted regularly in the area to maintain public safety.
