Canada’s Competition Bureau announced on Monday that it has filed a lawsuit against DoorDash and its Canadian subsidiary for allegedly promoting deceptive prices and discounts. According to the bureau, consumers were not able to purchase items at the advertised price on DoorDash’s platforms due to additional mandatory fees during checkout.
The Competition Bureau is taking legal action to prevent DoorDash from engaging in what it deems as misleading pricing and discount practices. The bureau is also seeking penalties for the companies involved and demanding restitution for affected consumers.
In response, DoorDash denied the allegations, stating that it did not conceal fees or mislead consumers. The company criticized the bureau's actions, describing them as an excessive attempt to target a leading player in the local commerce industry.
