The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao recorded a total of 46 cases of monkeypox as of June 8, 2025, according to the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health reported that the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has documented a total of 46 cases of monkeypox as of June 8, 2025.

Out of the 46 cases, eight have tested positive, 31 are suspected, and seven are probable. Eight patients have recovered, while others are still undergoing treatment, with no recorded fatalities.

The Ministry of Health reassured the public not to panic, as they are collaborating with local government units and health agencies to control the spread of the disease. They are implementing enhanced surveillance and providing proper medical care to affected individuals.

The Ministry also issued safety precautions for the public to follow:

  • Avoid close contact with individuals displaying flu-like symptoms
  • Practice regular handwashing and maintain personal hygiene
  • Avoid sharing personal items like clothes and towels
  • Seek early medical consultation if experiencing symptoms such as fever, joint pain, skin rashes, or lesions
  • Isolate immediately and inform local health authorities if symptoms of monkeypox appear

The Ministry emphasized their efforts to contain the spread of monkeypox by conducting specimen collections for testing and implementing self-restriction and isolation protocols for suspected and confirmed cases. They have designated well-equipped health centers with trained medical staff to ensure proper treatment and containment.
