Greta Thunberg was deported from Israel after Israeli navy prevented her and a group of fellow pro-Palestinian activists from sailing to Gaza

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg was deported from Israel after the Israeli navy intercepted her and a group of pro-Palestinian activists attempting to sail to Gaza. Thunberg, 22, was sent to France before continuing on to Sweden. Three others from the charity vessel were also repatriated, while eight crew members are challenging their deportation order.

The vessel, carrying humanitarian aid, was stopped by Israeli forces near Gaza, where they tried to break the naval blockade. The crew, including Thunberg, were taken to Ashdod port and later transferred to Ben Gurion airport. Israel criticized the voyage as a pro-Hamas stunt, stating that the remaining aid would be sent to Gaza through proper channels.

Thunberg, known for her environmental activism, typically avoids air travel due to carbon emissions. She was seen on a plane to Paris after the incident. The blockade on Gaza, imposed since 2007, aims to prevent weapons from reaching Hamas. Recent conflicts have led to devastating consequences for the region, with thousands of casualties and widespread destruction.
