Richard Benjamin and Paula Prentiss, a Hollywood golden couple who have been out of the spotlight for six years, recently made a rare public appearance at a Pilates class. The couple, who have been married for 64 years, not only share a deep love but also a professional relationship, having starred together in various projects over the years.
One of their notable collaborations was in the 60s sitcom He & She, which earned Prentiss an Emmy nomination. They portrayed a married couple living in New York City in He & She and later in the 1970 satirical war comedy Catch-22. Their partnership extended to Broadway, where they appeared in 1998's The Norman Conquests and other productions.
The couple, Richard Benjamin and Paula Prentiss, were recently seen heading to a Pilates class in Beverly Hills. Paula, who has been married to Richard since 1961, was assisted by a walker and a helper as she emerged from the studio. She sported a casual look with a grey sweatshirt, black trousers, sneakers, and a tortoise hair clip, while Richard wore a light denim jacket over a T-shirt and joggers.
Richard and Paula's relationship began during a time when actors were signed to studios. They met while studying at Northwestern University's drama school, and despite only Paula being initially signed by an MGM talent scout, their bond grew stronger over the years. Paula signed a seven-year contract with the studio in 1960, which she described as a 'terrifying' experience.
Despite facing challenges, including a mental breakdown on set, the couple's love endured. They have two children, Ross Benjamin and Prentiss Benjamin, who also pursued acting careers. Richard Benjamin's acting credits include films like The Last of Sheila, Mermaids, The Money Pit, and Westworld, for which he received critical acclaim and awards.
