India News: NEW DELHI: India on Saturday distanced itself from a statement issued by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) condemning recent Israeli strikes.

India has distanced itself from a recent statement by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) condemning Israeli strikes on Iran. The Ministry of External Affairs clarified that India did not participate in the discussions that led to the group's remarks.

The SCO's statement denounced Israel's actions as aggressive and in violation of international law. It called for peaceful resolutions to the tensions surrounding Iran's nuclear program.

India reiterated its independent stance, emphasizing the importance of restraint, dialogue, and diplomacy in resolving conflicts. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar directly conveyed India's concerns to his Iranian counterpart, highlighting the need to avoid further escalation.

India maintains close and friendly relations with both Iran and Israel, offering support for peace efforts. The Indian missions in both countries are in contact with the local Indian community, advising caution and adherence to local advisories.
